Moncton High School Purple Knights product Souleye Drisdelle has committed to Head Coach Jonathan Spirritts and the Crandall Chargers in the ACAA for the 2019-20 season.

MONCTON, N.B. — Head Coach Jonathan Spirritts didn’t have to go far to find another player for the 2019-20 season.

Spirritts and the Crandall Chargers are pleased to announce the commitment of Moncton High School’s Souleye Drisdelle for the upcoming season, and hopefully beyond.

The 6’5 senior forward saw success this year in his final year of high school basketball. Drisdelle picked up a win at the Dairy Town classic, and he competed in the Spirit Games during the Hoop Classic. Drisdelle was a leader for his program this year, and was a strong contributor to his program over the previous four seasons.

Drisdelle will be attending Crandall University in the fall as a Business major. With  interest in stocks and real estate as well as entrepreneurial ventures, he will surely add to the culture both on and off the court in 2019-2020 for the Chargers.

“My goal is to win championships and to get that diploma,” said Drisdelle in a release provided by Coach Spirritts. “I’m going to bring a lot of heart, energy, and my 100% when I’m on the floor.”

Spirritts responded to that with this about Drisdelle.

“That’s the winning attitude we’re craving here at Crandall, and that’s not the only thing he brings.”

“I think Souleye will bring a lot of athleticism to our lineup. He’s an energy guy that I’m going to rely on to get us going in practices – a real spark plug,” continued Spirritts. “He is incredibly versatile with huge potential. I honestly think we got the best big man in the Greater Moncton area and I think other programs may have slept on him.”

That’s some high praise for the 6’5” forward. Drisdelle will be playing at the forward spot this year for the Chargers and will surely bolster the front court rotation for the team.

“It’s a university just down the road,” added Drisdelle, when asked about why he chose Crandall University. “I knew some of the guys already and obviously Coach Spirritts meant a lot in the whole process. I’m ready to start my career.”

The Chargers are coming off a rocky season in the ACAA, one that saw them squeak into the playoffs as the sixth-seed in the league. At year’s end, their record was changed due to a handful of forfeited games from using an ineligible player. Crandall finished the year with a 5-16 record, one that included back-to-back wins to close out the season.

With the addition of Drisdelle to the mix moving forward, the Chargers will have their sights set on the playoffs once more in 2019-20 and contending atop the ACAA standings.
